Electronics and entertainment giant Sony is developing a new Ethereum currency (Ethereum) Layer 2 of the blockchain is called “Soneium”.
In a recent press release, Sony Group announced that advertisement Developing Soneium as a way to venture further into the web3 world.
According to Sony, leveraging blockchain technology will provide a more streamlined, secure, and decentralized experience for users.
“By developing blockchain, the underlying infrastructure of web3, we will be able to provide comprehensive web3 solutions from infrastructure to application layer, rather than just providing partial services.
“End users will be able to access Soneium through Soneium Network-compatible applications, and will be able to interact with web3 games and NFT (non-fungible token) marketplaces offered by each application, as well as entertainment-related services.”
Furthermore, Sony indicates that through Soneium, it will focus on integrating new users into web3 and supporting content creators.
“We will work to create use cases that can excite people who have not used Web 3 services before. Soneium’s Web 3 technology can support expanding creator capabilities and enhancing engagement with fan communities.
Specifically, we will explore rights protections for creator-created content, new monetization mechanisms to support creators and fans, and opportunities for creators to be active in both the digital and real worlds.”
Sony continues to say that the Soneium beta network will launch soon, although no specific date has been given.
In July, the Sony lineup was announced. Purchased Japanese digital asset company Amber Japan is planning to redesign and expand its cryptocurrency exchange platform.
