The development of the Ethereum project has gone very well over the months since its inception. The core activity – software platform development – is on the right track, and many developers around the world have started creating small, exploratory distributed applications on the platform, although we have not yet reached the alpha version.
The fifth installment of the proof-of-concept series will be released soon, although many community members are downloading the evolving source code, compiling it and using it on a regular basis in their various activities.
Other core activities include taking care of legal aspects in various jurisdictions regarding pre-sale, development and testing of the hot/cold wallet system, and development and testing of the pre-sale website. This is on its way to completion. The documentation related to the sale is also nearing completion although there are still some incomplete items in the critical path making it difficult for us to determine the sale date yet.
All of these activities are integrated into an ongoing base of support and communications activities. These have grown in scale due to the global popularity of the project. Our Twitter followers exceed 6,000. The number of global meetups exclusively or largely focused on Ethereum currently stands at 58 groups in 49 different cities, spread across 19 countries. 13,300 people subscribed to our newsletter. Various discussions on reddit/r/ethereum and forum.ethereum.org are active.
This project is flexible and agile and has benefited from several leadership reorganizations since its inception. This fluidity is expected to continue as each of us commits to staying lean and agile and doing what is best for the project at any given time.
Stephane Toal and Taylor Gering were in the project and were essential to it from the early days. Although they already had significant contributions, this has been formalized and they are now part of the leadership group.
The final phase of the business involved a strong interest in the legal aspects of the sale, and Charles Hoskinson was ideal to lead this effort. But that effort is now largely complete and Charles will move on to other activities in space.
Please follow this channel as we will continue to post information regarding software development activities and pre-sale details to digest and receive feedback.
