We are excited to announce the first developer preview of the Ethereum Wallet app. The goal of this release is to collect feedback, iron out bugs, and most importantly, review the code.
Please note that this is a developer preview no Final version. we Advise For you to be To the fullest extent Be careful not to place a large amount of ether in wallet contracts. Using the wallet on the mainnet should only be done with small amounts!
As Steve Ballmer once said Developers! Developers! Developers! And note that this is exactly our goal publicDo not trust us blindly while we ask (And advice!) You have to take a comprehensive look at the code in Ethereum wallet repository!
If you want to create the wallet yourself, you need to head to the Mist repository, and use the Wallet branch And follow the instructions in Readme file.
Reporting issues
If you have any issues with the wallet, open the developer console of the wallet (Menu -> Developer -> Switch Console) and provide the logs from there and the terminal you started from
geth
or
eth
from. Please report all issues to Wallet repository.
How to operate it?
First download the binary file for your operating system: (**Note**: You can find newer versions here)
This developer preview doesn’t come bundled with a node, as there are still some things that haven’t been finalized, so you still need to start one yourself.
For this developer preview, supported customers are com. get And eth. Python is currently not supported because it does not have the IPC interface required to run the wallet.
If you haven’t installed one of these nodes yet, Follow the instructions here Or download a Pre-build version. Make sure you have updated to the latest version. And start node by simply running:
He goes:
If you want to open an account to be able to transfer, add –Unlock
C++:

It is important to note that the wallet expects a fully synchronized node.
In future versions of com. get And eth The wallet will benefit from the new eth_syncing Method in JSON RPC, Allowing you to see the sync screen when you start the wallet.
This feature is currently already supported by com. get And eth On their growing branches.
Finally, start the wallet by clicking on the executable file!
Runs on testnet
If you want to try out the wallet on a testnet, you need to start your node with a different network ID and possibly a different data directory. To make sure that the wallet is still able to connect to your node, you need to manually set the IPC path:
OS X:
$ geth --networkdid "1234" --datadir "/some/other/path" --ipcpath "/Users//Library/Ethereum/geth.ipc"
linux:
$ geth --networkdid "1234" --datadir "/some/other/path" --ipcpath "/home//.ethereum/geth.ipc"
Additional ones you should probably provide Your configuration block using –origin science. For more details about flags See wiki.
After starting the node, you can simply run the wallet again.
NB Sometimes you need to wait a little, then click the button in the corner.
Once you open the wallet, a pop-up window will appear asking you to deploy the wallet nodes on your testnet, which will be used as Code basis For your portfolio futures contracts. The main advantage is that it is much cheaper (1.8 million gas versus 180 thousand gas).
NB: Make sure that the account displayed is open and contains at least one Ether.
Use the wallet
The wallet allows you to create two types of wallets:
- Simple wallet – It works like a regular account (Additional features are being worked on; e.g., adding owners, setting a daily limit)
- Multi-signature wallet – Allows you to add any number of owner accounts and set a daily limit. Each owner can send money from this account as long as it is below the daily limit. If you above need signatures of other owners required.
When running on the mainnet, be sure to write/back up the wallet node address! This address is required in case you need to re-import your wallet on a different computer or during backup/recovery.
Multi-signature
If you want to send an amount that exceeds the daily limit, your other owners must sign. This should mostly be done from another computer, although you can also add accounts you have in the same node.
If a pending request comes in it will look like this:
Simply click “Agree” and the transaction will be done.
Delete wallets
If you want to delete a wallet, click the trash icon on the wallet page, next to the wallet name. After writing the wallet name, it will be deleted from the application.
If you note the address, you can always re-import the wallet in the “Add Wallet” section.
road map
When everything works well and we finish the binary integration, we plan to release the first official release in 1-2 weeks™
Until then please File issues And discuss it Reddit!
