Merge sequence is busy 🚀
Integrate inbound mainnet
Yesterday on Call the consensus layerCustomer engineers approved key network parameters for the merger – Bellatrix Era 144896 And Paris TTD from 58750000000000000000000 (hesitant). TTD depends on the difficulty of proof of work and is therefore difficult to estimate accurately. the delivery date is September 15, 2022, but this estimate may include a week of error. Next week, All Core Dev call estimates will be re-examined, and the TTD will be confirmed or a final adjustment will be made to better reach the target date.
Reminder💡: A merger consists of a sequence of two promotions — Bellatrix On the consensus layer followed Paris On the implementation layer.
Bellatrix is upgrading the Beacon Chain to be “merge-aware,” integrating the Beacon Chain with the merge logic as validators begin carefully monitoring the Proof-of-Work chain to initiate the merge transition. Bellatrix is activated in the chosen era.
Paris is the merge transition itself, where the Ethereum Mainnet swaps its consensus from Proof of Work to Beacon Chain’s Proof of Stake. The Paris Upgrade is activated at the selected Final Total Difficulty (TTD) level.
⚠️All hands on deck⚠️
Stakeholders, infrastructure providers, users and community members – This is your warning. Mainnet merge sequence engaged. Over the next five weeks or so, stay tuned, stay tuned for updates, stay fit and be prepared for anything. Below are the most prominent events and expected dates:
- [2022/08/18] — TTD has been re-evaluated and finalized when all core developers have been called
- [2022/08/18 to 2022/8/22] — EL and CL teams have retired Mainnet software releases
- [2022/08/23] — Client resources, the EF blog, community announcements and other infrastructure for parameters and final releases
- [2022/09/06 11:34:47am UTC] – Bellatrix main network upgrade
- All stakeholders He should Upgrade to EL+CL merge-ready nodes before this time
- All infrastructure providers, users and community members He should Upgrade PoW nodes to EL+CL nodes ready for integration before this time
- [Estimated: 2022/9/15] – Transition integration of the Paris main network
- All infrastructure providers, users and community members He should Upgrade to EL+CL merge-ready nodes before this time. Plan to configure systems at least one week in advance and ideally before Bellatrix
Between the initial announcements of the mainnet release and the eventual transition of the integration, users will have to remain diligent – monitoring customer channels, the EF blog, and other public resources for any new information. Specifically, customer teams may release the final version Stiffness Their software releases in this time frame, and if possible, users should upgrade.
A big salute to the engineers, researchers, and community members who worked tirelessly and dedicated countless hours to this end. Merge sequence is busy 🚀
