The Las Vegas Strip has gone from kitsch to mainstream. You can thank Elton John and Celine Dion for pioneering the idea that relevant, existing artists could reside on the Strip without sacrificing their credibility.
However, although John and Dionne were big stars at the time of their residency, they were already older acts. They may still be relevant, but their core audience fit the Las Vegas Strip model that made Donny Osmond and Wayne Newton perennial stars who sold out their shows several nights a week.

You really have to turn to performers including Lady Gaga, who has an ongoing residency with MGM Resorts International (MGM) , and Adele, who is doing the same with Caesars Entertainment to completely remove the stigma. Bruno Mars, Carrie Underwood, and Katy Perry are all playing, or have played, extended residencies on the Las Vegas Strip and it has been beneficial to their careers.
Whereas a residency used to be a sad cash play at the end of your career, it’s now a way to play in front of your fans without the cost or hassle of touring. It’s also a way for arena-level players like Gaga, Mars and Adele to play in more intimate settings while still making the money they need.
The Las Vegas Strip has also become a venue for all types of music. A country music artist might sell out one venue, while a few blocks above a DJ or electronic dance music (EDM) star will headline a sold-out show.
One of the biggest names in EDM is coming to the sector for two years.

Fontainebleau Las Vegas is trying to find its way
Fontainebleau Las Vegas has had an incredible 20-year journey from its original opening to its grand opening late last year. The project went through several owners and was left for dead several times.
However, when it finally opened, the North Strip resort struggled to find an identity. It’s also a casino resort located on a part of the Strip where its neighbors are the much larger Resorts World Las Vegas and Circus Circus, a family-friendly casino resort that doesn’t attract a lot of traffic.
The North Strip may be the next big thing in Las Vegas, but for now it’s a lot of open land, promise and danger. Resorts World has become a tourist destination in part because it’s such a huge spectacle. Perry has also hosted residencies, and Carrie Underwood and comedian Kevin Hart currently have dates booked at the Resorts World Theater.
Fontainebleau hasn’t had the same lineup of top-tier artists, but it’s trying to change that by hosting EDM star David Guetta for an unprecedented two-year residency.

An EDM star is coming to Fontainebleau Las Vegas
Although Guetta may not have the same name recognition as Mars, Gaga, or Adele, he is a huge star in the EDM world.
“Guetta is a music pioneer and global icon. Currently he is the 12th most streamed artist on Spotify globally and has a 2-time Grammy Award, 13-time Grammy nominations, 7 No. 1 UK singles, over 40 billion global streams, and 50 million records sold worldwide. Worldwide, with more than 70 million monthly Spotify listeners to his name, he has been voted the world’s best DJ on DJ Mag’s “Top 100” four times and won best electronic artist at the MTV Europe Music Awards, according to a Fontainebleau press release. .
He may not be Elton John, but his world is as big as it gets and he will be staying at Fontainebleau Las Vegas and Fontainebleau Miami Beach for two years in the US. His residency will begin in 2025. He will perform at Fontainebleau’s LIV nightlife and LIV Beach lifestyle experiences, with additional resort-level performances in both Las Vegas and Miami.
“David is a once-in-a-generation talent who embodies the charisma and class that define the Fontainebleau brand. He is a natural fit for the luxury lifestyle and vibrant energy of LIV and LIV Beach, and his presence underscores Fontainebleau’s position as a global brand,” said Jeffrey Soffer. CEO of Fontainebleau Development: “It is an entertainment destination with the artists that the public wants to see.”
