With the peak summer travel season upon us, TheStreet looks at the top tips and tricks for getting last-minute travel deals while avoiding crowds. Travel app Going suggests using the internet, staying flexible and doing research.

Conway Gates: The peak summer travel season is about to begin, and even if you haven’t booked your ticket yet — listen up — there are still some deals available.
In order to get the best prices, travel app Going offers this tip: Use the power of the internet.
Sites like Google Flights can help you cut through the clutter to find the flights and prices you want. Be flexible with dates, destinations and airlines. The more flexible you are, the more success you will have at getting a cheap ticket.
If you are traveling internationally, consider flying to alternative cities and airports. You’ll often pay a cheaper price, especially in Europe, where you can easily take a train to your final destination. Finally, don’t procrastinate – if you see a good price, cut it. Waiting to see if the price gets cheaper may often make you pay more.

Going has scoured the web and found some great deals over the past 12 months. For travel within the United States, believe it or not, Hawaii, New York City, and Miami/Fort Lauderdale top the list.
Since these are some of the most desirable places to visit, and most airlines fly there, they are forced to compete on price.
Internationally, Paris, London and Dublin top the list. Just be sure to avoid Paris from late July to mid-August due to the Summer Olympics.
You should see a smaller travel bill this year overall. Although the cost of dining out jumped 4% over the past 12 months through May, airline ticket prices fell 6% over the past year, and the cost of living away from home fell in April and May. Gasoline prices saw a sharp decline in 2018. May, according to the latest Consumer Price Index.
