TON Blockchain Coins Down Due to Network Fatigue Due to DOGS Airdrops

The hype around the DOGS airdrop appears to have been too much for the TON blockchain after the network stopped processing new blocks for over 7 hours, leading community members to question the network’s true transaction rate per second (TPS).

The outage was the result of a “network overload” due to the large number of Dogs TRON Foundation member Justin said in a message to X on August 28, mailHe added that the network’s verifiers became overwhelmed with requests, causing them to lose consensus. The verifiers were then called back to reboot at 4:00 UTC to restore consensus.

TON Blockchain Stops at Below Theoretical TPS

Although transaction processing has resumed On the TON blockchain, community members are wondering why an outage occurred with a transaction count much lower than TON’s claimed theoretical TPS of 55,000 transactions.

Miko Otama said in a post on X on August 28 that the TON blockchain “failed” the stress test. He noted that the network crashed when it hit 280 TPS. According to Otama, this is “much lower” than the 55,000 TPS that the chain’s development team claimed the network could handle.

DOGS Makes Its Way Into Top 100 List After Listing On CEX

the Dogs Meme Coin was launched on the TON blockchain on August 27, and quickly registered listings on major centralized exchanges including Binance and OKX. During its first day of trading, Meme Coin managed to break into the top 100 cryptocurrencies. It is currently ranked 91st largest cryptocurrency by market cap. Market valuewith a total value of more than $630 million.

Despite its price drop of over 4% in the past 24 hours, the meme coin still ranks above eCash (XEC) and below Klaytn (KLAY) in terms of market cap.
