- “This will be helpful for shoppers as they plan their household budgets for essential goods and services,” said Mike Watson, head of retail and commercial analysis at Nielsen IQ, which provides data to the British Retail Council. “With uncertainty around discretionary spending, we expect intense market competition to keep price increases to a minimum this summer.”
The UK is focused this week on the general election due to be held on July 4. The election is widely expected to see a change of government.
