(Reuters) – Walmart Inc has been in talks with potential buyers to sell its closed medical clinics, Fortune magazine reported on Tuesday, citing multiple sources familiar with the matter.
In April, Walmart (NYSE: ) decided to close all 51 of its health clinics and shutter its virtual health care operations, saying it couldn’t see it as a sustainable business model to continue.
Some of the talks involved health insurance companies, including Fortune 50 company Humana (NYSE: ), the report added.
While it’s unclear whether any talks are underway, Walmart has made clear throughout the process that it is trying to recoup some of its massive investment in the clinics through sales or other acquisition arrangements, the report added.
Walmart declined to comment, while Humana did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
Last week, Walmart sold MeMD, its virtual care subsidiary, to healthcare technology startup Fabric for an undisclosed amount.
